Kid-Friendly Mikvah Tour

Recently, a group of children (and some parents) enjoyed a kid-friendly Mikvah tour at the Mei Menachem Western Well Community Mikvah in Natick.

Who were these lucky kids?DSCN2360.jpg

For the past year and a half, many children have been coming to the Chabad Center in Natick twice a month on Thursdays, to bake fresh, homemade challah.  Typically, this fun and educational experience begins with the children mixing ingredients together, followed by the shaping of the dough, and eventually—the actual baking. While the scent of bread fills the air, the children sit around a table for a fun mini-lesson.

Well... this season’s final session ended with a unique twist! While the challah was baking in the Chabad Center’s ovens, the children, along with accompanying aDSCN2383.jpgdults, were led to  a building next door. It was the grand Mikvah tour! (Or, more accurately, a mini tour for mini folks.)

To start off — there was an interactive little lesson about water and purity. Then the kids curiously moved from room-to-room: from lobby to preparation room to actual Mikvah.  The children even got a sneak peek under the stairs, where they saw how the rainwater well connects with the uppeDSCN2392.jpgr water.

As the grand finale, the kids entered the dish Mikvah room, and each child received their very own souvenir—a cool-looking glass mug—and a chance to dip it into the Mikvah.

With mugs in hand, everyone headed back to Chabad to pick up their freshly baked hot challah.
