Lag BaOmer Recap and Clown Gets a Bar Mitzvah

Lag Baomer Recap | Clown Gets a Bar Mitzvah

This past Sunday, with its glorious weather, was the perfect day for the Lag BaOmer holiday and outdoor event.  Many people, children and adults, came to celebrate at the Chabad Center in Natick.  As delicious BBQ foods were being grilled by the Chubby Chickpea staff, children had fun with the moon bounce, mirror maze, face painting and other activities including good old soccer.  The fun continued as Davey the Clown came unicycling into the parking lot with all of his equipment.  His entertainment engaged the crowd and induced lots of laughter.  How exciting and beautiful it was when the children marched around with musical instruments and Mitzvah signs as part of a parade led by Davey with his rousing according music playing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”.  And if that was meant to be the finale, there was still more.  As the children gathered around the mini bonfire pit, roasting marshmallows, Davey the Clown, who we discovered was Jewish, was busy having an impromptu Bar Mitzvah.  He donned tefillin for the first time in his life as Siman Tov UMazel Tov was sung for the occasion.

Thanks to all the people who helped before, during and after (getting everything back into Chabad so quickly).  Thanks to everyone who shared their photos - Oren and Irit Mael, Sharon Burtman, Victor Gvirtzman and Sara Lourie.
