This past Monday evening, the Chabad Center of Natick Metrowest was filled with warmth, friendship, and inspiration as community members gathered to enjoy a delicious kosher Chinese dinner and hear from special guest Rabbi Chaim Mentz of Chabad of Bel Air.

A sought-after commentator on current events and modern media who is regularly featured on Fox News, Rabbi Mentz captivated the audience with his timely presentation, “Ancient Myths, Modern Media: Israel and the Jews.”

In his engaging and thought-provoking style, Rabbi Mentz explored how antisemitism has evolved throughout history, taking on different forms in different eras while remaining rooted in the same fundamental challenge. He explained that the Jewish people, ever since Abraham, have carried a message of Divine morality and purpose to the world. Throughout the generations, those unwilling to accept the values and truths represented by Judaism often sought to discredit, marginalize, or oppose the Jewish people.

Rabbi Mentz described how, in modern times, these ancient prejudices have often been repackaged through the lens of Israel and contemporary media narratives. Yet his message was ultimately one of optimism and empowerment.

The response to those who seek to spread fear, he emphasized, is not to hide our Jewish identity, but to embrace it with greater pride, joy, and confidence. When Jews live openly, perform more mitzvot, and bring positivity and light into the world, they strengthen both themselves and the communities around them.

The evening left attendees feeling inspired, informed, and empowered. Many shared enthusiastic feedback afterward, expressing appreciation for Rabbi Mentz’s clarity, insight, and uplifting message.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special evening. We look forward to continuing to bring meaningful programs that educate, inspire, and strengthen our community.
