Francine Godfrey:
· Fitness & Wellness Director, 1998- present; Fitness Consultant at Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly ( JCHE ) 1994-1998
· Developed fitness centers at all four of JCHE’s sites that are utilized by over 150 residents
· Designs comprehensive fitness programs that integrate strength and endurance training, balance and flexibility, cardio vascular aerobics, fall prevention and meditation including specialized programs for those with dementia.
· Created and maintains a number of collaborative partnerships with area universities. Work extensively with Tufts University’s School of Occupational Therapy and Northeastern University’s Department of Physical Therapy in program initiatives. These include research, interventions and balance strategies that examine their impact and outcomes on JCHE’s residents.
· Established a Senior Fitness Collaborative with Boston area housing providers to share resources and information on senior fitness
· Developed a consultation model for a comprehensive fitness program, resulting in foundation funding to establish a program based on JCHE’s model at buildings managed by Newton Community Development Foundation. Provides consultation and training to staff whenever required.
· Presented at the National Council on Aging/American Society on Aging 2008 and 2010 Conference.
· Established a wellness initiative and fitness center at Beit Baruch an assisted living facility in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, with 60 poor, frail and previously isolated Jewish elderly in that community. Provides on- going consultation and staff training.
