What lucky kids at GEO! So many great experiences and each day. This week we celebrated yet another Aleph Champ moving on to a new level, we had a double field trip to a fun playground and to the Framingham library. Another field trip is scheduled for this coming week. Our robotic continues to be lots of fun - and boy are the kids busy designing their robots - and this time they had get them to move even faster. On Thursday, our Karate Master Jacob came with some new fun equipment. We also made Challah - yum!
Highlights from Morah Hadassah's class... earlier in the week, we introduced the kids to the Jewish Home Curriculum which will be continued on Tuesdays. The kids had fun doing some watercolor paintings and designing or talking about their homes.
On another day, as part of the Bereishit Light House curriculum the students made fancy microphones to help us listen to the voice of our Neshama/soul which helps us to make the right choices. Then we acted out the Garden of Eden scenario.
Later in the week, the topic was about adding a prayer for rain in the month of Cheshvan which we are in now. The GEO scientists had some figuring out to do since, some - like the sugar mouse, and possibly baby Mussia - have not see much rain. How could we show what it looks like? They had fun using the pipettes to fill up their clouds with rain until it started to flow down forming drops below. What an exciting experiment!
Highlights from Morah Batya's class... in the davening/tefillah/prayer club the students learned how Hebrew words are built, finding the prefixes and shoresh/root of the words.
They also learned about having a mezuza on each door and watched a video on how it's made. Then they played "deal or no deal" with a mezuza twist.
Highlights from Morah Elana's class... students wrote sensory poems about nature, and shared their thoughts about "Bal Tashchit" - being careful not to be wasteful. They added the Bal Tashchit page to their mitzvah houses and created sculptures using recyclable materials.
