People like Emily are counting on it!
Emily (not her real name) wasn’t really a "Chabad person." She had her own circle, her routines, her own life.
She’d show up at our Chabad Center once in a while, but it wasn’t her world.
Then Emily’s mom got sick. And then her mom was gone.
When Passover came around, she didn’t know what to do with herself, because Passover had always been her mom. The seder table. The smell of the food. The songs her mom taught her. She missed them terribly.
Emily almost didn’t come to our seder. She was afraid it would just make her feel worse. But she came. And slowly, surrounded by candles, wine, and food being passed around the table, she got comfortable. She told me later that she felt like her mom was right there in the room with her.
Like the table had held a place for her, too.
Your support makes sure that place is always set.
Any amount you give today helps make sure the door is open when a person from the community gets here. You have no idea who is going to walk in and be welcomed because you sent a donation. Maybe it’s someone who’s been here a dozen times. Maybe it’s someone who lost somebody close this year, who almost didn’t come.
All will be welcome, thanks to you!
